A woman called Safety Care Incorporated at 9 a.m. one day and the receptionist answered and said; “Hello this is Safety Care Inc., a full service home health care agency, can I help you?” It is funny because this is the first time I have heard her answer our company phone in that manner. I began to wonder why she left out the usual way of answering phone. As I was battling with myself she kind of sensed that I heard her and quickly came to me and said, “that phone call was an 80 year old woman who just woke up from sleep unable to get herself up. She said I did not want to call 911 only to wait in the emergency room for hours. I did not want to call my daughter in Texas and as I was thinking of what to do; I reached out for the phone book next to my bed and opened it and saw Safety Care Inc. I called because I want a safety care.” The receptionist said “I sensed desperation and confusion in your voice, and I said to myself this is one of those calls I have to explain who we are before she asked.”When this old woman heard my voice, the receptionist continued, she was very relieved and she said is this “Safety Care” and I quickly answered “yes ma’am can I help you?” I assured her of the help she needed and that was just what she wanted.

We were able to send the nurse for evaluation and assessment and start care for her immediately. This was as simple as that and this client has been properly cared for by our Home Health Care Team ever since. She has her wish met to stay in the community, at the privacy of her own home, without burdening her children in Texas. Since 1994, the client has referred many of her friends, families and neighbors to us.

All her family members here in Minnesota and across the nation are part of our Safety Care, Inc. Home Health Care family and they have the peace of mind of knowing that their loved one is safe at home. This is our goal; this is what our clients tell their friends, families, neighbors and others.
