Our Caregiver Training and Education Program provides both our clients and their caregivers the education and training needed at home to manage their various disease processes. We provide videos, literature, photos and other information that guide and support our clients. There are many ways to educate our clients and their caregivers:

  • We recommend them to read books, attend workshops, and consult their health care professionals. This helps educate you about the disease process.
  • We emphases the key areas such as communication skills, safety issues, learning caregiver techniques. The ability to manage behavioral problems as well as the Activity of Daily Living (ADL’s) are very important components of caregiver and family training.
  • We teach them ways to adjust their expectations, to be kind, respectful, and patient both to caregivers the clients.
  • It is important to be sensitive to your love one’s experience and feelings.
  • We provide respite care to avoid the caregiver being burned out. We advise caregivers to join support groups, make time for themselves, do other things beyond caregiving.
  • We teach other techniques to reduce stress and maintain physical and mental health. Seek medical assistance where necessary.
  • We encourage caregivers to discuss their unique situations with our professionals, friends, family members and support systems.
  • Do things of interest such as things that stimulate different activities.
  • We teach how to communicate effectively with physicians, be involved in loved one’s medical care.
  • Assist with clear understanding of the progression of the disease, address concerns and treatment options.
